Connecticut runs its energy efficiency programs through Energize Connecticut — the statewide brand for the ratepayer-funded Conservation & Load Management plan that every electric and gas customer already pays into through a line item on the bill. That money comes back as rebates, no-cost assessments, and low-cost financing, delivered by the utilities: Eversource and United Illuminating on the electric side, and the gas companies for gas measures.
The catch is that “your utility” might not be Eversource or UI at all. Several Connecticut towns — Wallingford, Norwich, Groton, Jewett City, South Norwalk, and Bozrah — run their own municipal electric utilities with their own rebate menus, and they are not part of Energize CT. This page covers the active state, utility, and municipal programs for 2026, for both homeowners and commercial building operators, so you can see what actually applies at your address instead of guessing.

Residential Energy Rebates in Connecticut
For most Connecticut homeowners, the front door to everything else is Home Energy Solutions — an in-home assessment that installs basic weatherization on the spot and sets you up for the equipment rebates that follow. Income-eligible households get the same work at no cost through HES–Income Eligible. From there, the highest-value rebates are tied to heat pumps and insulation.
Energize CT Programs (Eversource & United Illuminating)
Home Energy Solutions (HES / HES-IE)
A technician visits your home, air-seals and installs basic weatherization during the visit, and documents where your energy is going. HES is the qualifying step for most insulation and heat-pump rebates. Income-eligible customers get a no-cost assessment and deeper measures through HES-IE. Start here before buying equipment — it changes what you qualify for.
Who qualifies: Eversource and United Illuminating electric or gas customers. HES-IE is income-based.
Heat Pump Incentives
Connecticut’s heat-pump rebates scale with how far you go. A standard air-source heat pump earns $250 per ton (up to $2,500), but a whole-home “Energy Optimization” installation that displaces your fossil system starts at $1,000 per ton and runs up to $10,000. Ground-source (geothermal) systems earn $1,500 per ton up to $15,000, and heat-pump water heaters get $900. The lesson: partial swaps get partial money — the program pays you to go all the way.
Weatherization & Envelope
Professionally installed insulation earns up to $2.00 per square foot, triple-pane windows $100 each, and heat- and energy-recovery ventilators up to $500. Smart thermostats get up to $85 instant. These are the unglamorous measures that make the heat pump you install afterward smaller and cheaper to run.
Solar: Renewable Energy Solutions
Connecticut replaced retail net metering with the Renewable Energy Solutions program, which compensates residential solar owners for the power their system produces plus the renewable energy certificates (RECs) it generates. Rates are set by the program rather than published on a single hub page — your installer models the specific buyback for your system.
Municipal Electric Utilities
If you’re served by a town electric department, Energize CT programs don’t apply — but your utility likely runs its own, and coverage is genuinely good:
Wallingford Electric, Norwich Public Utilities, Jewett City DPU
These municipals offer their own insulation, heating-and-cooling, heat-pump-water-heater, and EV-charger rebates — often on terms comparable to Eversource and UI (for example, up to $2.50 per square foot for attic insulation at Jewett City, and roughly $1,000 in services through Wallingford’s Home Energy Savings Program). Amounts and forms live on each utility’s site; the finder above routes you to the right one.
South Norwalk Electric & Water (SNEW)
SNEW runs a full residential menu — heat pumps ($2,500, or a qualifying heat-pump water heater), attic insulation (up to $2.50 per square foot), electric heating & cooling ($500–$3,000 per ton), EV chargers ($1,500 residential), and new-construction incentives that scale with scope.
State Tax Treatment for Solar & Geothermal
Two statewide provisions apply uniformly, regardless of income or tax situation: Connecticut grants a full sales-and-use tax exemption on qualifying solar and geothermal equipment, and a property-tax exemption (CGS §12-81(57)) so a qualifying renewable system doesn’t raise your assessed value. Both are set by statute — no application tied to your finances.
Federal and other tax incentives may apply depending on your situation; those change frequently and depend on your circumstances, so we don’t estimate them here. Consult a qualified tax professional and see our Federal Incentives page.
Commercial Energy Rebates in Connecticut
Connecticut’s commercial side is deep, and — like the residential side — most of it runs through Energize CT and is delivered by Eversource and United Illuminating. The programs range from no-cost small-business direct-install work to custom incentives worth up to 40% of installed cost on large retrofits, plus a mature C-PACE financing market through the Connecticut Green Bank.
Energize CT Commercial Programs
Small Business Energy Advantage (SBEA)
The best-known entry point for smaller facilities: a no-cost, no-obligation assessment followed by direct-install measures and incentives, with on-bill financing available so the upgrade pays for itself out of the savings. If you run a small commercial building and have never touched an efficiency program, this is where to start.
Energy Opportunities for Existing Buildings
For larger or more complex projects, the Energy Opportunities track offers custom and prescriptive incentives — up to 40% of installed costs — for lighting, HVAC, controls, and process improvements, with the largest projects custom-negotiated against verified savings.
Prescriptive Equipment & Retro-Commissioning
Energize CT publishes a long prescriptive menu: rooftop and heat-pump HVAC, commercial heat-pump water heaters (up to $1,400), controls and thermostats, refrigeration, and a deep bench of commercial-kitchen rebates (fryers, ovens, ice machines, dishwashers). Its Retro-Commissioning program tunes the systems you already own — usually the highest-ROI work available, since it finds savings with no capital replacement — and Express and Instant lighting rebates handle the quick lighting wins.
Financing: C-PACE & C&LM Loans
The Connecticut Green Bank’s C-PACE lets commercial owners finance efficiency and renewable projects through a benefit assessment on the property-tax bill, repaid over the life of the equipment and transferable when the building sells. Energize CT also offers low-interest C&LM loans for small-business and municipal projects.
Federal Tax Provisions
Federal energy tax credits changed sharply in 2025 — most residential credits ended after December 31, 2025, while some commercial incentives run into 2026. We keep the current details on our Federal Incentives page; confirm your situation with a qualified tax professional.
Commercial Projects: Work With an Energy Professional
Most commercial Energize CT applications require pre-approval before work begins, an assessment to document baseline conditions, and post-installation verification. Running that process while managing a capital project is a real time commitment for an internal facilities team — and starting work before approval can forfeit the incentive entirely.
GetEnergyRebates.com connects Connecticut commercial building owners and facility managers with regional energy professionals — energy auditors, LED and HVAC installers, and efficiency consultants with direct experience processing Eversource and United Illuminating incentive applications.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are Energize CT and my utility’s rebates the same thing?
Yes. Energize CT is the statewide brand for Connecticut’s ratepayer-funded Conservation & Load Management programs, delivered by the utilities — Eversource and United Illuminating on the electric side, and the gas utilities for gas measures. Applying through your utility’s program is applying through Energize CT; you don’t stack the two against each other. Where a separate incentive exists (for example a manufacturer rebate or CT Green Bank financing), verify the terms with each administrator before applying.
Do Connecticut commercial rebates require pre-approval before starting work?
Most large commercial incentives do. Energize CT’s custom and larger prescriptive tracks generally require you to submit an application and receive an incentive commitment before you begin the project. Starting work before that approval typically disqualifies it — one of the most common and costly mistakes on commercial rebate applications. Confirm the pre-approval requirement with Eversource or United Illuminating before you order equipment.
What’s the best starting point for a commercial efficiency project in Connecticut?
Start with an energy assessment. For most facilities the right first step is a scoping audit that identifies the highest-value measures, creates the documentation base for Energize CT incentive applications, and gives you an independent analysis to take to your CFO. Smaller businesses may qualify for Energize CT’s Small Business Energy Advantage track, which offers a streamlined, direct-install path. Sizing the work to an assessment first almost always beats leading with a single equipment swap.
What about federal tax credits?
Federal and other tax incentives may apply depending on your situation; those change frequently and depend on your circumstances, so we don’t estimate them here. Consult a qualified tax professional and see our Federal Incentives page.

Programs for homes
Energize Connecticut (joint brand of Eversource, United Illuminating, Connecticut Natural Gas and Southern Connecticut Gas, overseen by DEEP/PURA and the CT Energy Efficiency Board) 19 programs
Residential Air Source Heat Pump Incentive
Estimated benefit: $250 per ton, up to $2,500 in combined incentives, for qualifying air source heat pumps when replacing a heat pump with another heat pump, installing for heat without integrated control, or adding a heat pump to an unconditioned space or cooling only.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: $250/ton up to $2,500 combined incentives for qualifying air source heat pumps when replacing a heat pump with another heat pump, when you are installing for heat without integrated control or to add a heat pump to an unconditioned space or cooling only." - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/heating-cooling/heat-pumps/residential-air-source, read 2026-10-04 via browser (host 403s to automated fetch).”
Our energy expert: This is the lower of Connecticut's two residential heat pump offers, and what the heat pump replaces is what decides which one you land in. Up to $250 per ton, up to $2,500 combined, is what you get for swapping one heat pump for another, adding cooling, or conditioning space that was not conditioned before; if you are coming off oil, propane, gas or electric resistance, the Energy Optimization offer is the one to chase instead. Equipment has to be on the Energize CT qualified products list and go in through a Heat Pump Installer Network contractor, and you need to be an Eversource or United Illuminating residential electric customer. Have an HVAC professional tell you which bucket your project falls into before you order equipment.
Residential Air Source Heat Pump Energy Optimization Incentive
Estimated benefit: $1,500 per ton, up to $10,000 in combined incentives per home, for qualifying air source and air-to-water heat pumps that replace natural gas, oil, propane or electric resistance heat. Installations between 1 January and 31 August 2026 were paid at $1,000 per ton.
Timing: Rate stepped up on 1 September 2026 (from $1,000/ton to $1,500/ton). Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Incentive Amounts: Qualifying installations that occurred January 1, 2026 through August 31, 2026 are eligible for $1,000/ton, enhanced incentives may be available... Installations occurring on or after September 1, 2026 are eligible for $1,500/ton" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/heating-cooling/heat-pumps/residential-energy-optimization, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: This is the big one for heat pumps. The larger incentive applies when you are replacing fossil fuel or electric resistance heat, not when you are swapping one heat pump for another, and which bucket your project falls into changes the incentive substantially. One date decides more than anything else on the page: $1,500 per ton applies to installations on or after 1 September 2026, while installs between 1 January and 31 August 2026 were paid $1,000 per ton, up to $10,000 per home either way. Consult an HVAC professional before you commit to equipment.
Residential Ground Source Heat Pump Incentive
Estimated benefit: $1,500 per ton, up to $15,000, for qualifying ground source heat pumps.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: $1,500 per ton up to $15,000 for qualifying ground source heat pumps" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/heating-cooling/heat-pumps/ground-source-residential, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: Ground source carries the highest residential heat pump cap in the state, up to $1,500 per ton and up to $15,000, but it only pays where the system is replacing oil, propane, natural gas or electric baseboard as the primary heat. Whether your lot can take a loop field at a sane cost is a site question, not a rebate question, and it is the question that usually settles it. Equipment must meet ENERGY STAR minimums and be installed by a Heat Pump Installer Network contractor, for Eversource and United Illuminating residential electric customers. Get the ground loop priced before you let the incentive make the decision.
Residential Air to Water Heat Pump Incentive
Estimated benefit: $250 per ton, up to $2,500 in combined incentives, for qualifying air-to-water heat pumps.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: $250 per ton up to $2,500 combined incentives for qualifying air to water heat pumps" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/residential-air-water-heat-pump-incentive-details, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: Air-to-water units appear in two places at two prices: up to $250 per ton and up to $2,500 combined here, or $1,500 per ton under Energy Optimization when the unit replaces fossil fuel or electric resistance heat. The two offers overlap and the administrator does not reconcile them, so the one thing to do before you buy is get Energize CT to say in writing which offer your installation is being paid under. Eversource and United Illuminating residential electric customers only. Your installer can ask on your behalf; get the answer before the equipment ships.
Residential Heat Pump Water Heater Incentive
Estimated benefit: $900 per qualifying unit. Households in the Home Energy Solutions - Enhanced Incentives tier are quoted up to $1,900.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: $900 for qualifying units" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/residential-water-heater/heat-pump; "Heat pump water heaters - up to $1,900" - energizect.com/explore-solutions/hes-enhanced-incentives. Both read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: The posted amount is $900 per unit, but a household verified between 60% of state median income and 80% of area median income is quoted up to $1,900 under Home Energy Solutions - Enhanced Incentives. Those are not competing figures, they are two tiers, and plenty of households who assume they earn too much for help sit inside the higher one. Income verification runs through the Energize Connecticut portal and has to happen before you buy. Settle which tier you are in first; it changes the amount materially.
Residential Triple Pane Window Incentive
Estimated benefit: $100 per ENERGY STAR certified triple-pane window.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: $100 per window" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/insulation-windows/triple-pane-window; corroborated at /explore-solutions/insulation-windows: "there is a $100 rebate per window (participation in Home Energy Solutions is not required)". Both read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: $100 per ENERGY STAR certified triple-pane window, and this is one of the few Connecticut weatherization measures that does not require a Home Energy Solutions visit first. That makes it the rare upgrade you can do on your own schedule. Worth being honest about the economics: windows are among the slowest-paying envelope measures, so if your attic and walls are not done yet, do those first and come back to the glass. Eversource and United Illuminating residential electric customers.
Residential Advanced Duct Sealing
Estimated benefit: Heating or heating-and-cooling systems: $1,750 for the first system and $1,000 for each additional system. Cooling-only systems: $600 for the first and $350 for each additional.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: Heating/Heating and Cooling, $1,750 for the first system and $1,000 for an additional system | Cooling Only, $600 for the first system and $350 for an additional system" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/residential-advanced-duct-sealing (last modified 2026-10-01), read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: Leaky ducts throw conditioned air into attics and crawlspaces, and Connecticut pays well to stop it: $1,750 for the first heating or heating-and-cooling system and $1,000 for each additional one, or $600 and $350 for cooling-only systems. The incentive is per system, so a house with two air handlers is worth more here than a house with one. Eversource and United Illuminating customers with a ducted system. Have your contractor count the systems before quoting the job.
Residential Heat Recovery and Energy Recovery Ventilator Incentive
Estimated benefit: Up to $500 instant rebate per qualifying unit.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: Up to $500 instant rebate per qualifying units" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/erv-hrv-incentives, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: Up to $500 off a heat recovery or energy recovery ventilator, taken as an instant rebate at purchase. The condition that decides it is the qualified products list: if the unit is not on the Energize CT HRV/ERV list there is no rebate, whatever its specification sheet says. This matters most in a house you have just air-sealed tightly, where mechanical ventilation stops being optional. Check the list with your installer before you order.
Residential Thermostat Incentives
Estimated benefit: Up to $85 instant rebate per qualifying smart thermostat.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: Up to $85 instant rebate" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/residential-thermostat, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: Up to $85 off a qualifying smart thermostat at the register, for Eversource, UI, CNG and SCG residential customers. What most people miss is that this is a separate pot from the demand response enrollment reward paid for the same device, so you can take the purchase rebate and then enroll the thermostat for the annual reward as well. Buy the thermostat, claim the rebate, then enroll the device. Doing it in that order gets you both.
Residential Advanced Power Strips
Estimated benefit: Up to $40 per qualifying unit, limit three per year.
Timing: The 'Offer details' block says Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26. The eligibility bullet on the same page still says 'Valid January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2025'.
“"Rebate Offer: Up to $40 per qualifying unit for Residential electric customers" and, in the same page's eligibility list, "Valid January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2025" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/advanced-power-strips, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: Up to $40 per advanced power strip, three per year, and it cannot be combined with other Energize CT rebates or exceed what you paid. The page contradicts itself on dates: the offer block says the 2026 program year while an eligibility bullet on the same page still says 2025. Take the 2026 window as current and confirm with Energize CT before buying if you are close to the year end. Small money, but the kind of measure a home office or media room actually pays back.
Residential Air Purifiers
Estimated benefit: Up to $40 per qualifying unit, limit two per year.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: Up to $40 per qualifying unit for residential electric customers" ... "Limit two per year" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/residential-air-purifiers, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: Up to $40 per qualifying air purifier, two per year, for Eversource and UI residential electric customers. The limit that will actually catch you is the administrator's own condition that this runs while funds last, which is not the same as running to 31 December. If you want it, buy early in the program year rather than late.
Residential Smart Sockets Rebate
Estimated benefit: $8 per qualifying smart socket, limit three per year.
Timing: Incentive Duration 12/01/25 - 12/31/26 - the only Energize CT residential offer that does not run on the calendar-year window.
“"Rebate Offer: $8 per qualifying unit for electric customers" with "Incentive Duration 12/01/25 - 12/31/26" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/residential-smart-sockets-rebate-page, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: $8 per qualifying smart socket, three per year, while funds last. The reason to read this one carefully is not the amount, it is the window: this is the only Energize CT residential offer that does not run on the calendar year, running 1 December 2025 to 31 December 2026. If you are planning a batch of small upgrades, lump this one in rather than making a trip for it.
Home Refrigerator and Freezer Recycling
Estimated benefit: $75 rebate plus no-cost pickup for a working refrigerator or freezer; an extra $30 if a working dehumidifier is collected at the same time. Limit two units per electric account per calendar year.
Timing: No end date found on the page. Pickup is scheduled with EcoPlus; rebate cheque arrives about six weeks after collection.
“"Earn a $75 rebate" ... "Recycle it at the same time and receive an extra $30 rebate" ... "You may recycle up to two units per electric account per calendar year" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/fridge-freezer-recycling, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: If you are running a second working refrigerator or freezer in the basement or the garage, this pays $75 to have EcoPlus haul it away, plus another $30 if you hand over a working dehumidifier at the same collection. The appliance has to actually work and measure 10 to 30 cubic feet inside, limit two units per electric account per calendar year, and the cheque arrives about six weeks after pickup. Book the dehumidifier into the same visit; that is the part people leave on the table.
Dehumidifier Recycling Turn-In Events
Estimated benefit: $30 rebate per working dehumidifier turned in at a scheduled event.
Timing: Event-based. The published 2026 schedule runs May 9 to at least November 7, 2026, at named Home Depot and Lowe's locations. Customers must complete the online rebate form and bring a confirmation code to the event.
“"The Sponsors of Energize CT offer a $30 rebate for recycling an inefficient, working dehumidifier at an upcoming turn-in event." ... "Events are hosted seasonally, between May and November." - energizect.com/dehumidifier-recycling, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: This is a dated event calendar, not a standing rebate: $30 per working dehumidifier turned in at a scheduled Home Depot or Lowe's event. The published 2026 season runs 9 May to at least 7 November, so only a handful of Connecticut dates remain. You have to register online, complete the rebate form and bring a confirmation code to the event; turning up with the appliance and nothing else does not work. Check the current schedule before you load the car.
Residential Variable-Speed Pool Pump Rebate
Estimated benefit: $100 on an ENERGY STAR certified variable-speed pool pump.
Timing: No end date found on the pool pump page.
“"Save $100 on an ENERGY STAR certified variable-speed pool pump." - energizect.com/explore-solutions/pool-pump, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: $100 on an ENERGY STAR certified variable-speed pool pump. A single-speed pump is often the largest plug load in a house that has one, which makes the rebate the smaller half of the argument. One thing worth knowing: this offer no longer has a page under the rebates section, only under solutions, which can mean a measure is being wound down. Confirm with Energize CT that it is still being paid before you order.
Home Energy Solutions - Enhanced Incentives
Estimated benefit: No-cost home energy assessment plus enhanced measure incentives: insulation at $2.50 per square foot up to 100% off; air source heat pumps $1,500 per ton up to $10,000; heat pump water heaters up to $1,900; ground source heat pumps; advanced duct sealing.
Timing: Income guidelines stated for the 2026-2027 fuel season. Six-year re-participation bar applies. Subject to available funding and a possible waiting list.
“"you may be eligible for rebates on upgrades such as: Insulation - $2.50/sq. ft., up to 100% off... Air source heat pumps - $1,500 per ton, up to $10,000... Heat pump water heaters - up to $1,900" - energizect.com/explore-solutions/hes-enhanced-incentives, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: This is the tier most Connecticut households do not know exists. If your gross household income sits above 60% of state median income but below 80% of area median income, you are in neither the market-rate program nor the income-eligible one; you are here, with a no-cost assessment, insulation at $2.50 per square foot up to 100% off, air source heat pumps at $1,500 per ton up to $10,000, and heat pump water heaters up to $1,900. The upper bound is area median income, which varies by ZIP code, so the published ranges are defaults rather than your actual limit. Verify your income through the Energize Connecticut portal before you contract anything; the enhanced amounts only apply once you are verified. If you have assumed you earn too much for help in Connecticut, check this tier before you accept that.
Home Energy Solutions - Income Eligible (HES-IE)
Estimated benefit: No-cost comprehensive energy assessment and on-the-spot installations across two visits, at little to no out-of-pocket cost. Includes up to 100% off approved insulation, ENERGY STAR windows replacing single-pane, heating/cooling and water heating upgrades, and a $500 rebate toward replacing an inefficient refrigerator or freezer.
Timing: Income guidelines stated for the 2026-2027 fuel season. Six-year re-participation bar. "Because of high demand for this program, there may be a waiting list. The program is subject to available funding."
“"you may also be eligible for valuable incentives, including up to 100% off on approved insulation projects" and "ENERGY STAR certified appliances to replace inefficient refrigerators and freezers. This may include a $500 rebate" - energizect.com/energy-evaluations/income-eligible-options, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: At or below 60% of state median income, the assessment and the on-the-spot work cost you nothing across two visits, and the follow-on money is the strongest in the state: up to 100% off approved insulation, ENERGY STAR windows replacing single-pane, heating, cooling and water heating upgrades, and a $500 rebate toward replacing an inefficient refrigerator or freezer. Two things people wrongly disqualify themselves over - your home and car are not counted as assets, and utility hardship status qualifies you on its own. The administrator states plainly that high demand may mean a waiting list and that the program depends on available funding, so apply rather than waiting for a better moment. You can also apply through your local Community Action Program agency, and renters need a signed landlord authorization.
Residential Energy Preparation Services (REPS)
Estimated benefit: Removes health and safety barriers (for example knob-and-tube wiring, mould, asbestos) that would otherwise stop a home from receiving weatherization. Amount not confirmed — ask the lead vendor what the program will cover before work is scoped.
Timing: Ongoing — no published end date
“"If you qualify, this program could help remove any health and safety barriers to enable weatherization services." - energizect.com/energy-evaluations/income-eligible-options (Additional Offerings), read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: Weatherization sometimes cannot start until something unsafe comes out first - knob-and-tube wiring, mould, asbestos. This service exists to remove those barriers for Home Energy Solutions - Income Eligible participants so the insulation work can proceed, which is why a household told their home does not qualify should ask a second question rather than give up. The per-household limit is set within the program rather than printed on the page, and the page itself has not been updated since August 2025, so confirm with Energize CT that barrier removal is still being funded before you plan around it. Raise it with your HES-IE technician at the assessment.
Residential Smart Thermostat Demand Response
Estimated benefit: Eversource ConnectedSolutions (electric): $50 one-time enrollment reward per accepted device plus $20 a year after each summer season; income-eligible customers $100 enrollment plus $20 a year. Avangrid Smart Savers Rewards: CNG and SCG $75 enrollment plus $25 a year; UI $35 enrollment plus $25 a year.
Timing: Events run June through September for electric, roughly 10 to 20 per season, up to three hours each. Avangrid gas Smart Savers events run November 1 through March 31, excluding holidays and weekends.
“"$50 one-time enrollment reward per accepted device, $20 annual reward per device after each summer season. Income eligible: $100 one-time enrollment reward per accepted device, $20 annual reward per device... Avangrid Smart Savers Reward CNG and SCG: $75 one-time enrollment reward per accepted device, $25 annual reward per device... UI: $35 one-time enrollment reward per accepted device, $25 annual reward per device" - energizect.com/explore-solutions/smart-thermostat-demand-response, read 2026-10-04. Eversource's own CT page states "Enroll an eligible thermostat to earn $70 or more within the next year", which is the $50 + $20 total.”
Our energy expert: Same statewide brand, same thermostat, three different enrollment payments - and which utility bills you decides which one you get. Eversource electric pays $50 to enroll plus $20 a year after each summer season, or $100 to enroll for income-eligible customers; UI electric pays $35 plus $25 a year; CNG and SCG gas pay $75 plus $25 a year. The trade is that the utility can move your setpoint by up to four degrees during an event - roughly 10 to 20 summer events of up to three hours on the electric side, November through March on the gas side - and you can opt out of any single event. A dual-fuel household can hold the summer electric and the winter gas program at the same time, which is the part most people miss.
Norwich Public Utilities 6 programs
E-Bike and E-Scooter Rebate Program
Estimated benefit: Bill credit of up to $750 for a new electric bike or electric scooter. The credit cannot exceed 50% of the purchase price excluding tax. One rebate application per NPU electric utility account.
Timing: Purchases from 1 July 2026 through 30 June 2027. All rebate requests must be received by 15 July 2027.
“"Get a bill credit of up to $750 from Norwich Public Utilities when you purchase a new electric bike or electric scooter. This rebate is good for purchases made from July 1, 2026 - June 30, 2027. LIMIT: One rebate application per NPU electric utility account." and "All rebate requests must be received by July 15, 2027." - FY 27 E-Bike and E-Scooter Rebate Form, Norwich Public Utilities, p. 1 (norwichpublicutilities.com/DocumentCenter/View/718/FY-27-E-Bike-and-E-Scooter-Rebate-Form), read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: Norwich Public Utilities pays a bill credit of up to $750 toward a new electric bike or electric scooter, which is the only e-mobility rebate this collection found at any Connecticut utility - and one no Norwich customer would think to look for. The credit cannot exceed 50% of the purchase price excluding tax, so both the cap and the price of the bike bind, and it is one rebate application per NPU electric account. The window is specific: purchases from 1 July 2026 through 30 June 2027, with all rebate requests received by 15 July 2027. Keep the dated receipt and file as soon as you buy.
Cool Choice and CHIPP (Cooling and Heating Incentive Pilot Program)
Estimated benefit: Cool Choice pays a per-ton rebate on an eligible single- or split-system central air conditioner or heat pump. CHIPP is an incentive aimed at helping existing electric customers convert to an efficient electric heat pump system. Per-ton amounts are on the Cool Choice and CHIPP rebate forms.
Timing: No end date found on the program page.
Our energy expert: Norwich runs two related rebates: Cool Choice pays a per-ton amount on an eligible single- or split-system central air conditioner or heat pump, and CHIPP is aimed specifically at helping existing electric customers convert to an efficient electric heat pump. The per-ton amounts are set on each program's rebate form, downloadable from the program page - get both forms before you take quotes, because the conversion incentive and the equipment rebate are not the same money. Per-account limits are stated on each program page. If you are heating with electric resistance in Norwich, ask about CHIPP by name.
Electric Appliance Rebate Program
Estimated benefit: Rebates on ENERGY STAR qualified air conditioners, electric water heaters and heat pump dryers. Limit one rebate per appliance per residential electric utility account, maximum three air conditioners. Amounts are on the individual rebate forms.
Timing: No end date found. ENERGY STAR criteria are applied as at the date of rebate submission.
Our energy expert: Norwich pays rebates on ENERGY STAR qualified air conditioners, electric water heaters and heat pump dryers - one rebate per appliance per residential electric account, with a maximum of three air conditioners. The amounts sit on the individual rebate forms linked from the program page, so pull the form for the appliance you are buying before you shop. ENERGY STAR criteria are applied as at the date you submit the rebate rather than the date you bought, which matters if a specification changes mid-year. Heat pump dryers are the one most people do not realize is covered.
Electric Vehicle and Charging Rebate Program
Estimated benefit: Rebates for the purchase or lease of a new or used all-electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid, and for the purchase and installation of EV charging equipment. The rebate cannot exceed the equipment purchase price excluding tax and installation. Amounts are on the two rebate forms.
Timing: No end date found; confirm the current deadline with the administrator.
Our energy expert: Norwich rebates both sides of going electric: the purchase or lease of a new or used all-electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid, and the purchase and installation of charging equipment. The rebate cannot exceed the equipment purchase price excluding tax and installation, and the amounts are on two separate rebate forms linked from the program page - pull both, because the vehicle and the charger are claimed separately. A used EV qualifying is unusual among utility programs, so read that form's conditions carefully before you shop the used market. Per-account limits are stated on the program page.
Natural Gas Installation and Rebate Program
Estimated benefit: A conversion incentive plus rebates on new high-efficiency gas heating systems. Amounts are on the Natural Gas Heating Equipment Rebate Form and the Natural Gas Incentive Form.
Timing: No end date found; confirm the current deadline with the administrator.
Our energy expert: If you are on Norwich gas, or considering converting to it, there are two different pots: a conversion incentive for making the switch and equipment rebates on new high-efficiency gas heating systems. The amounts sit on the Natural Gas Heating Equipment Rebate Form and the Natural Gas Incentive Form respectively, both linked from the program page, and a conversion project can draw on each - get both before you take quotes. Be deliberate about the decision itself: converting fuel locks you into a fuel price, and Connecticut's statewide programs have moved their heating money to the electric side. Price a heat pump against the gas conversion before you commit.
Wall and Attic Insulation Rebate
Estimated benefit: Rebates on wall and attic insulation installed by a licensed insulation contractor. Retrofit projects only - not valid for homeowner-installed insulation or new construction. Amounts are on the rebate form.
Timing: No end date found; confirm the current deadline with the administrator.
Our energy expert: Wall and attic insulation rebates for Norwich Public Utilities customers, retrofit projects only - homeowner-installed insulation and new construction are both excluded, and the work has to be done by a licensed insulation contractor. The rates are on the rebate form linked from the program page; get it before the contractor quotes so you can check the job against what is actually claimable. Insulation remains the fastest and cheapest way to cut a heating bill, and Norwich pays for it without requiring a statewide assessment first.
Groton Utilities (and Bozrah Light and Power, which shares the same rebate program) 4 programs
Attic Insulation Rebate
Estimated benefit: Up to $2.00 per square foot for R-38 or up to $2.50 per square foot for R-49. Maximum $5,000 for a single-family residence and $2,000 for apartments or condominiums. Covers both the insulation purchase and the installation cost.
Timing: No end date found. "All rebates are granted at the sole discretion of Groton Utilities/Bozrah Light and Power and are subject to change at any time."
“"Get a rebate of up to $2 (R-38) or $2.50 (R-49) per square foot for attic insulation if your home has electric heat and/or central air conditioning. Single Family Home - up to $5,000. Condominium/Apartment - up to $2,000. Rebate applicable to both purchase of insulation AND installation cost." - grotonutilities.com/240/Residential-Heat-Pump-Water-Heater-Rebate (attic insulation panel), read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: If Groton Utilities or Bozrah Light and Power bills you, you are not an Energize Connecticut customer and the statewide programs are not yours - but your own utility runs a full rebate suite, and this is the place to start. Attic insulation pays up to $2.00 per square foot for R-38 or up to $2.50 for R-49, covering both the material and the installation, capped at $5,000 for a single-family home and $2,000 for an apartment or condominium. There is no home energy assessment prerequisite, which is unusual, and the R-49 rate is higher than the statewide standard rate - but it appears only on Groton's own page, so confirm the figure with Groton Utilities before you sign a contract on the strength of it. You need electric heat and/or central air conditioning, one rebate per account, and the contractor's invoice has to show pre- and post-installation R-values.
HVAC Mini-Split AC/Heater Rebate
Estimated benefit: Up to $4,000 per compressor, not to exceed $3,000 per ton. Maximum $50,000 per customer; maximum two units per electrical account.
Timing: No end date found; confirm the current deadline with the administrator.
“"HVAC Mini-split AC/Heater rebate is up to $4,000 per compressor, and not to exceed $3,000 a ton. Maximum of $50,000 per customer. Maximum of 2 units per electrical account." - grotonutilities.com/238/Residential-Rebate-Center, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: The figures here are large enough to be worth a phone call before you rely on them: up to $4,000 per compressor, not to exceed $3,000 per ton, with a $50,000 per-customer maximum and two units per electrical account. That per-ton rate is double the statewide Energy Optimization rate and the per-customer ceiling is five times the statewide cap, and both appear nowhere except Groton's own page. Call Groton Utilities and get the rate and the ceiling confirmed before you commit to equipment, then have an HVAC professional size the system to the house rather than to the cap. Residential electric customers of Groton Utilities and Bozrah Light and Power.
Heat Pump Water Heater Rebate
Estimated benefit: The cost of the retail heat pump water heater unit, installation not included, to a maximum of $2,000. One per customer.
Timing: No end date found; confirm the current deadline with the administrator.
“"Cost of the retail heat pump water heater unit (installation not included). $2,000 maximum. One per customer." - grotonutilities.com/238/Residential-Rebate-Center, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: Groton pays the retail cost of the heat pump water heater itself, up to $2,000, with installation excluded and one per customer. That is an unusually open formulation for a municipal rebate - most pay a fixed amount, and the statewide program pays a flat $900 - so have Groton Utilities confirm in writing what 'cost of the retail unit' covers before you buy. Keep the equipment invoice separate from the labor invoice, since the rebate is written against the unit only. Open to residential electric customers of either utility, one unit per customer.
Smart Thermostat Rebate
Estimated benefit: Rebate for purchasing and installing a smart thermostat. Maximum two thermostat units per Groton Utilities or Bozrah Light and Power account. Amount is on the rebate form, not the web page.
Timing: No end date found; confirm the current deadline with the administrator.
“"The Groton Utilities rebate program will provide rebates to customers who purchase and install a smart thermostat in their home. Maximum of two (2) thermostat units per Groton Utilities and Bozrah Light and Power account." - grotonutilities.com/238/Residential-Rebate-Center, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: Groton and Bozrah customers can claim a rebate on a purchased and installed smart thermostat, up to two units per account. The per-unit amount is set on Groton's own smart thermostat rebate form rather than on the web page, so print the form from the Groton rebate center, or ask the utility for it, and you will have the figure before you shop. Worth claiming alongside any other Groton rebate so you only go through the paperwork once.
South Norwalk Electric and Water (SNEW) 4 programs
Residential Electric Heating and Cooling System Rebate
Estimated benefit: AHRI-rated central air conditioning split system (16 SEER / 15.2 SEER2 / 12.5 EER): $500. AHRI-rated air source heat pump split system (16 SEER / 15.2 SEER2 / 12.5 EER / 10 HSPF / 7.5 HSPF2): $3,000. Mini-split heat pump, single indoor unit (20 SEER / 19 SEER2 / 12.5 EER / 9 HSPF / 8.0 HSPF2): $3,000. Multi-split heat pump, multiple indoor units (18 SEER / 17 SEER2 / 12.5 EER / 9 HSPF / 7.5 HSPF2): $3,000.
Timing: Valid for systems purchased and installed on or after 1 January 2026 through 31 December 2027. Applications must be postmarked no later than 31 January 2028.
“"AHRI Rated Central Air Conditioning Split System 16 SEER / 15.2 SEER2 / 12.5 EER $500"; "AHRI Rated Air Source Heat Pump Split Systems 16 SEER / 15.2 SEER2 / 12.5 EER / 10 HSPF / 7.5 HSPF2 $3,000" - 2026-2027 Residential Electric Heating and Cooling System Rebate, South Norwalk Electric and Water, form S-5 rev. 2026-08-A, p. 2. Walked: snew.org -> Conservation -> Rebates & Incentives -> 'Residential Electric Heating & Cooling System Rebate (PDF)'.”
Our energy expert: SNEW pays flat amounts where the statewide program pays per ton, and that changes who comes out ahead: $3,000 for an air source heat pump split system, a single-zone mini-split or a multi-split, and $500 for a central air conditioning split system. On a small two-ton install SNEW is the better deal; on a large system it is not, because a flat payment does not grow with capacity. The efficiency thresholds are specific and have to be backed by AHRI ratings, so have your contractor match the model to the form before ordering. The window runs two calendar years - systems purchased and installed from 1 January 2026 through 31 December 2027, with applications postmarked by 31 January 2028.
Attic and Basement Ceiling Insulation Rebate
Estimated benefit: Attic insulation up to $2.50 per square foot; basement ceiling insulation up to $1.50 per square foot. The final rebate cannot exceed the actual installation cost and is determined by the technician at the post-installation inspection.
Timing: Valid for insulation purchased and installed on or after 1 January 2026 through 31 December 2027. Applications must be postmarked no later than 31 January 2028.
“"2026-2027 RESIDENTIAL ATTIC & BASEMENT CEILING INSULATION REBATE* * ATTIC: UP TO $2.50 PER SQUARE FOOT; BASEMENT CEILING: UP TO $1.50 PER SQUARE FOOT" and "Customers must have participated in the Home Energy Savings ('HES') Program to be eligible" - SNEW form S-1 rev. 2026-08-A, p. 1.”
Our energy expert: Attic insulation up to $2.50 per square foot and basement ceiling insulation up to $1.50, and that second line matters because basement ceilings are a real source of heat loss that the statewide insulation page does not name. The gates are specific: you must have participated in SNEW's Home Energy Savings program, existing R-value must be R-19 or less, and the recommended final value is R-38 or greater. The final rebate is set by the technician at the post-installation inspection and cannot exceed what the work actually cost, so do not bank the maximum. Do the Home Energy Savings visit first; the insulation money sits downstream of it.
Level 2 Electric Vehicle Charger Rebate
Estimated benefit: Residential: $1,500 per Level 2 EV charger. Commercial, including multi-family and public-area installations: $3,000.
Timing: Valid for chargers purchased and installed by a licensed contractor on or after 1 January 2026 through 31 December 2027. Applications must be postmarked no later than 31 January 2028.
“"Level 2 Electric Vehicle Charger Residential $1,500"; "Level 2 Electric Vehicle Charger Commercial including multi-family, public area $3,000" - 2026 Residential & Commercial Level 2 Electric Vehicle Charger Rebate, SNEW, p. 2.”
Our energy expert: $1,500 per Level 2 charger for residential customers and $3,000 for commercial, multi-family and public-area installations - and the important part is who qualifies: all SNEW residential customers, with no income test. Eversource and UI narrowed their equivalent $1,500 rebate to income-qualified households and High Poverty Low Opportunity census tracts as of 1 January, so a South Norwalk address can claim what a Norwalk address one street over cannot. You need a licensed contractor and an electrical permit number. Chargers purchased and installed from 1 January 2026 through 31 December 2027, applications postmarked by 31 January 2028.
Residential New Construction (RNC)
Estimated benefit: HERS-tier based incentive for new homes and significant rehabilitation projects. Program incentive cap $150,000.
Timing: 'As Built' paperwork must be submitted within three months of completion or the rebate is forfeited. Application must precede 100% completion of the design phase.
“"Eligibility is contingent on customers application to the program prior to 100% completion of the design phase. Program Incentive Cap: $150,000" and "In order to be eligible for incentives through the RNC program, homes/dwelling units must utilize all-electric equipment for space heating and water heating." - SNEW Residential New Construction programme application, p. 1.”
Our energy expert: One gate decides everything else here: the home has to use all-electric equipment for both space heating and water heating, and air source heat pumps must be CEE Tier listed. If you are planning a house with a gas furnace or a gas water heater in SNEW territory, this program is not available to you at all. The incentive is tiered on the HERS Index the finished home achieves, with a program cap of $150,000, and the per-tier amounts are in the application's HERS Rating Path table - get it from SNEW before the design is fixed. Two deadlines will catch you: the application has to precede 100% completion of the design phase, and 'As Built' paperwork has to be in within three months of completion or the rebate is forfeited.
Wallingford Electric Division (Town of Wallingford) 4 programs
Residential Insulation Rebate
Estimated benefit: Attic insulation up to $1.70 per square foot (existing R-19 or less, final R-38 or greater). Floor insulation up to $1.00 per square foot (uninsulated to R-19 or greater).
Timing: "The following rebate applications are valid for residential energy efficiency measures completed January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026" (program page). The form file itself is dated Jan25-Dec26.
“"Attic R-19 or less R-38 or Greater Up to $1.70 per square foot" and "Floor Uninsulated R-19 or Greater Up to $1.00 per square foot" - WED Residential Insulation Rebate form, Jan25-Dec26 edition (file WED_RES_Insulation_Rebate_Jan25-Dec26_250129.pdf), p. 2. Walked: wallingfordct.gov -> Residents -> Energy Conservation for Residents -> Insulation Rebate.”
Our energy expert: The most important thing about Wallingford is not the rate, it is that Wallingford Electric Division does not participate in Energize Connecticut - so these are the only programs you have and there is no statewide offer to fall back on. Attic insulation pays up to $1.70 per square foot, with existing R-value at R-19 or less and a final value of R-38 or greater; floor insulation pays up to $1.00 per square foot going from uninsulated to R-19 or greater. Insulation required by building codes is excluded, which matters on a renovation. The program page covers measures completed 1 January through 31 December 2026, so a job started in December has to finish in December.
Residential Electric Heating and Cooling System Rebate
Estimated benefit: AHRI-rated central air conditioning split system (15.2 SEER2 / 12.0 EER2): $250 per ton. AHRI-rated air source heat pump split system (15.2 SEER2 / 8.1 HSPF2): $500 per ton. Mini-split heat pump, single indoor unit (15.2 SEER2 / 8.5 HSPF2): $300 per ton. Mini-split heat pump, multiple indoor units (15.2 SEER2 / 8.5 HSPF2): $500 per ton.
Timing: Valid for residential measures completed 1 January 2026 through 31 December 2026.
“"AHRI Rated Central Air Conditioning Split System 15.2 SEER2/12.0 EER2 $250 per ton"; "AHRI Rated Air Source Heat Pump Split Systems 15.2 SEER2 / 8.1 HSPF2 $500 per ton"; "AHRI Rated Mini Split Heat Pump Systems - Single Indoor Unit 15.2 SEER2 / 8.5 HSPF2 $300 per ton"; "- Multiple Indoor Unit 15.2 SEER2 / 8.5 HSPF2 $500 per ton" - WED Residential Heat & Cool System Rebate form, Jan-Dec26 edition (file WED_RES_Heat___Cool_System_Rebate_Jan-Dec26_260101.pdf), p. 2.”
Our energy expert: Wallingford pays per ton and the rates sit well below the statewide program: $500 per ton for an air source heat pump split system or a multi-indoor-unit mini-split, $300 per ton for a single-unit mini-split, and $250 per ton for central air conditioning. Because Wallingford Electric Division is outside Energize Connecticut, its customers cannot claim the statewide per-ton rate instead - this is the offer, not a floor. The efficiency thresholds are specific SEER2, EER2 and HSPF2 figures, so have your contractor match the model to the form rather than to a marketing sheet. Measures must be completed between 1 January and 31 December 2026.
Residential Heat Pump Water Heater Rebate
Estimated benefit: Up to $750 for a 240-volt integrated hybrid electric heat pump water heater with a Uniform Energy Factor of 3.30 or greater. The rebate cannot exceed $750 or 100% of the cost.
Timing: Applications must be postmarked no later than 31 January 2027.
“"240 Volt Integrated Hybrid Electric Heat Pump Uniform Energy Factor (UEF) of 3.30 or greater Up to $750" and "rebate amount cannot exceed $750 or 100% of the" cost - WED Residential Heat Pump Water Heater Rebate form, Jan25-Dec26 edition, p. 2.”
Our energy expert: Up to $750 toward a 240-volt integrated hybrid electric heat pump water heater, and the rebate cannot exceed $750 or the full cost of the unit. The threshold is what to check first: a Uniform Energy Factor of 3.30 or greater is strict and rules out many units a customer would otherwise buy, including some sold as high-efficiency. Get the UEF off the unit's rating plate or specification sheet before you order. Applications must be postmarked no later than 31 January 2027.
Home Energy Savings Program (Wallingford)
Estimated benefit: CMC Energy Services delivers an in-home energy audit with services and products valued at approximately $1,000.
Timing: No end date found; confirm the current deadline with the administrator.
“"CMC Energy Services will provide the following services and products, valued at approximately $1,000 during an HES* audit" - wallingfordct.gov/residents/energy-conservation-for-residents/, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: This is the single most useful fact for a Wallingford resident: Wallingford Electric Division is not part of Energize Connecticut, so if you call 877-WISE-USE you will be turned away. Your home energy audit comes through the Division's own Home Energy Savings program, delivered by CMC Energy Services, with services and products valued at roughly $1,000 installed during the visit. We could not find a copay figure for the Wallingford visit, unlike the statewide program, so ask what you will be charged when you book. Start here, because Wallingford's insulation rebate sits downstream of this program - the Division's Energy Efficiency Specialist is on 203-294-2280.
Other administrators 4 programs
Smart Savers Rewards Thermostat Program — Connecticut Natural Gas (Avangrid)
Estimated benefit: $75 e-gift card on enrollment, plus a $25 e-gift card for each year of continued participation.
Timing: Event season 1 November to 31 March, excluding holidays and weekends.
“"Once enrolled, you will receive a $75 e-gift card. In addition, you will receive a $25 e-gift card each year you participate in the program. This program allows us to make brief limited temperature adjustments in your home during peak gas demand periods from November 1 through March 31 (excluding holidays and weekends)." - cngcorp.com/smartenergy/rebatesandprograms/smart-savers-rewards-thermostat-program, read 2026-10-04 via browser.”
Our energy expert: If you have a smart thermostat controlling central gas heat on Connecticut Natural Gas, enrolling earns a $75 e-gift card plus $25 for each further year you stay in. The trade is that CNG can adjust your heating during winter events between 1 November and 31 March, excluding holidays and weekends. Check whether your electric utility runs a summer program too - the two seasons do not overlap, so a household on gas heat and electric cooling can be paid by both. Enrollment is paperwork, not a purchase.
Connecticut EV Charging Program - Residential — Eversource Energy (Connecticut Electric) and United Illuminating, under the PURA-approved statewide EV Charging Program
Estimated benefit: Up to $1,500 toward a qualified Level 2 smart charger and/or the home wiring upgrade needed to install one, for income-qualified customers only. $100 incentive for enrolling an eligible EV or charger you already own in Managed Charging. $25 a month for smart charging with no more than two on-peak charges in the month, up to $120 a year.
Timing: Charger rebate eligibility narrowed to income-qualified customers and High Poverty Low Opportunity census tracts as of 1 January. We found no end date for the $100 Managed Charging sign-up for single-family customers.
“"You may qualify for up to $1,500 for a new qualified Smart Charger and/or wiring upgrades necessary to install a charger. Only customers that have a household income of up to 300% of the Federal Poverty Level or live in a High Poverty Low Opportunity census tract may be eligible for a rebate." and "$25 monthly reward for smart charging and keeping on-peak charges to two or less per month... Earn up to $120 annually" - uinet.com/smartenergy/electric-vehicles/programs-for-your-home/single-family-residence. Eversource states: "As of January 1, only customers who meet income eligibility requirements or live in High Poverty, Low Opportunity areas are eligible to apply for these rebates." Both read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: The charger rebate narrowed, and most households that qualified a year ago no longer do: up to $1,500 toward a Level 2 smart charger, or the home wiring needed to install one, is now limited to households at or below 300% of the federal poverty level or living in a High Poverty Low Opportunity census tract. The managed charging side is still open to everyone - $100 for enrolling an eligible EV or charger you already own, plus $25 for a month with no more than two on-peak charges, up to $120 a year. Single-family homes and properties of four units or fewer, Eversource and UI electric customers, charger from the qualified products list. Check the census tract map before you assume you are out, because the boundaries are not intuitive.
SolarPlus Energy Program — Groton Utilities
Estimated benefit: One-time incentive of up to $10,000 for installing a solar array, or a combined solar and battery system. The exact amount varies with the specification of the array and battery technology installed.
Timing: First come, first served; the selection process opened 31 January 2025. No closing date found, and we found nothing on how much funding remains.
“"The SolarPlus program offers a substantial one-time incentive of up to $10,000 for customers who choose to install a solar or a combined solar and battery system. The exact incentive amount will vary based on the specifications of the solar array and battery technology installed." and "participants will be selected on a first come, first serve selection process, which opens on January 31, 2025." - grotonutilities.com/285/SolarPlus-Energy-Program, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: A one-time incentive of up to $10,000 toward a solar array, or a combined solar and battery system, with the exact amount depending on the specification of the array and the battery technology installed. Establish one thing before anything else: whether money is left. The selection process opened on 31 January 2025 on a first-come first-served basis, no closing date has been published, and there is no statement of remaining funds anywhere - so call Groton Utilities and ask what is left in the program before you take a solar quote seriously. Grid-connected systems under 12 kW at a Groton Utilities customer's home.
Smart Savers Rewards Thermostat Program — Southern Connecticut Gas (Avangrid)
Estimated benefit: $75 e-gift card on enrollment, plus a $25 e-gift card for each year of continued participation.
Timing: Event season 1 November to 31 March, excluding holidays and weekends.
“"Once enrolled, you will receive a $75 e-gift card. In addition, you will receive a $25 e-gift card each year you participate in the program. This program allows us to make brief limited temperature adjustments in your home during peak gas demand periods from November 1 through March 31 (excluding holidays and weekends)." - soconngas.com/smartenergy/rebatesandprograms/smart-savers-rewards-thermostat-program, read 2026-10-04 via browser.”
Our energy expert: $75 as an e-gift card for enrolling an eligible smart thermostat, plus $25 for each year you stay in. This is the winter gas counterpart to the summer electric demand response program - events run 1 November to 31 March, excluding holidays and weekends - and a dual-fuel household can hold both at the same time. It is also the largest thermostat enrollment payment under the Energize CT umbrella; the UI electric version pays $35 for the same device. Enroll the thermostat you already own, because there is nothing to buy here.
Programs for businesses
Energize Connecticut (joint brand of Eversource, United Illuminating, Connecticut Natural Gas and Southern Connecticut Gas, overseen by DEEP/PURA and the CT Energy Efficiency Board) 41 programs
Multifamily Air Source Heat Pump Incentive
Estimated benefit: Market rate: up to $750 per ton for central or common-area systems. Income eligible: up to $1,875 per ton for central or common-area systems. Individual dwelling units: up to $500 per ton for ducted, ductless single-zone or ductless multi-zone.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Market Rate: Up to $750/ton for central/common area - Income Eligible: Up to $1,875/ton for central/common area - Individual Dwelling Units: Up to $500/ton for ducted/ductless single zone/ductless multizone" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/multifamily-air-source-heat-pump-incentive-details, read 2026-10-04 via browser.”
Our energy expert: For a building of five or more units, the income mix of your tenants is worth more than anything else on this page: central and common-area air source heat pumps pay up to $750 per ton at market rate and up to $1,875 per ton for an income-eligible property. Individual dwelling units pay up to $500 per ton whether ducted, single-zone or multi-zone, so a central system and a unit-by-unit approach are not paid the same way. Qualifying the building as income-eligible is tenant income documentation, done before the project rather than after. Talk with an energy professional through the Multifamily Initiative before you scope the system.
Multifamily Ground Source Heat Pump Incentive
Estimated benefit: Market rate: up to $4,000 per ton. Income eligible: up to $4,200 per ton.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Market Rate: Up to $4,000 per ton, Income Eligible: Up to $4,200 per ton for qualifying ground source heat pumps" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/multifamily-ground-source-heat-pump-incentive-details, read 2026-10-04 via browser.”
Our energy expert: Ground source in multifamily pays up to $4,000 per ton at market rate and up to $4,200 per ton income-eligible. Notice how small that gap is next to the air source measures, where income eligibility more than doubles the per-ton rate - if you are weighing ground source against air source, the income status of the building changes which one the incentives favor. Buildings or complexes of five or more units, through the Multifamily Initiative. Have an engineer price the loop field before the incentive leads the design.
Multifamily Heat Pump Water Heater Incentive
Estimated benefit: Market rate: $650 per unit. Income eligible: $800 per unit.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Market Rate: $650/unit - Income Eligible: $800/unit" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/multifamily-hpwh-incentive-details, read 2026-10-04 via browser.”
Our energy expert: $650 per unit at market rate and $800 income-eligible, for heat pump water heaters in buildings of five or more units. The constraint here is usually not the money, it is where the tanks go: heat pump water heaters need air volume and they cool the space they sit in, which in a tight mechanical room is a design problem rather than an installation detail. Get that answered before you count units. The Multifamily Initiative is the way in.
Multifamily Boiler Circulator Pump Incentive
Estimated benefit: Market rate: up to 50% of measure cost. Income eligible: up to 75% of measure cost.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Market Rate: Up to 50% of Measure Cost - Income Eligible: Up to 75% of Measure Cost" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/multifamily-boiler-circulator-pump-incentive-details, read 2026-10-04 via browser.”
Our energy expert: This one is paid as a share of cost rather than a fixed amount: up to 50% of measure cost at market rate and up to 75% for an income-eligible property. That means your incentive moves with your installed price, so the quote and the incentive have to be worked out together rather than one after the other. It is also one of the few gas-side measures that survived Connecticut's gas wind-down. Buildings of five or more units, through the Multifamily Initiative.
Multifamily Refrigerator and Freezer Incentive
Estimated benefit: Market rate: up to 50% of measure cost. Income eligible: up to 75% of measure cost.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Market Rate: Up to 50% of Measure Cost - Income-Eligible: Up to 75% of Measure Cost" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/multifamily-refrigerator-and-freezer-incentive-details, read 2026-10-04 via browser.”
Our energy expert: Replacing in-unit refrigerators and freezers across a building is paid as up to 50% of measure cost at market rate and up to 75% income-eligible, not as a fixed amount per appliance. Decide first whose bill you are solving: in a common-metered building the electricity is yours, and in a separately metered one it is the tenant's, which changes the business case entirely. Because the incentive is a percentage, get it calculated against the actual quote rather than a catalogue price. Five or more units, through the Multifamily Initiative.
Multifamily Clothes Washer Incentive
Estimated benefit: Market rate: up to 50% of measure cost. Income eligible: up to 75% of measure cost.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Market Rate: Up to 50% of Measure Cost - Income-Eligible: Up to 75% of Measure Cost." - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/multifamily-clothes-washer-incentive-details, read 2026-10-04 via browser.”
Our energy expert: Common-area laundry is paid at up to 50% of measure cost at market rate and up to 75% for income-eligible properties. Because it is a percentage rather than a flat amount, the incentive scales with the equipment you choose, so have it priced against the real quote. For laundry the water heating is usually the larger cost, not the motor, which is worth saying to whoever is specifying the machines. An energy professional working on the Multifamily Initiative can run both numbers at once.
Multifamily Natural Gas Furnace Incentive
Estimated benefit: Income eligible only: up to 75% of measure cost. No market-rate incentive is offered for this measure.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: Income Eligible: Up to 75% of Measure Cost" and "Note: Natural gas incentives will continue for individual combustion equipment in multifamily buildings" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/multifamily-natural-gas-furnace-incentive-details, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: Read the restriction before the amount: this is income-eligible only, at up to 75% of measure cost, and there is no market-rate incentive for a multifamily gas furnace at all. It is one of three narrow survivals of Connecticut's end of residential gas equipment rebates on 31 December 2024, which is why a market-rate owner looking for gas money here will find none. The measure also has to be a real efficiency step: an inefficient non-condensing furnace out, a condensing furnace at 95% AFUE or greater in. If your building is not income-eligible, put the planning effort into the electric measures instead.
Multifamily Natural Gas Boiler Incentive
Estimated benefit: Income eligible only: up to 75% of measure cost. No market-rate incentive is offered for this measure.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: Income Eligible: Up to 75% of Measure Cost" and "Note: Natural gas incentives will continue for individual combustion equipment in multifamily buildings" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/multifamily-natural-gas-boiler-incentive-details, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: Income-eligible buildings only, up to 75% of measure cost, replacing a non-condensing boiler with a condensing unit at 95% AFUE or greater. Connecticut ended residential gas equipment rebates on 31 December 2024 and this is one of the few places gas money survived, so a market-rate multifamily owner gets nothing on this measure and should be told so plainly. Qualifying the building as income-eligible is paperwork done up front, not a box ticked at the end. Bring it to the Multifamily Initiative before you specify the boiler.
Commercial Electric Dishwashers Incentive
Estimated benefit: Up to $2,000 per qualifying ENERGY STAR unit.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: Up to $2,000 per qualifying ENERGY STAR unit" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/commercial-dishwashers, read 2026-10-04 via browser (host 403s to automated fetch).”
Our energy expert: Up to $2,000 on a qualifying ENERGY STAR commercial dishwasher, for Eversource and United Illuminating commercial and industrial electric customers. A high-temp machine is usually the second-largest hot water load in a restaurant after the sinks, so the water heating saving tends to be bigger than the electricity line suggests. Price the machine and the rebate together with your foodservice dealer, and confirm the model qualifies before it is ordered.
Commercial Refrigerators and Freezers Incentive
Estimated benefit: Up to $250 per qualifying refrigerator and up to $400 per qualifying freezer.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: Up to $250 per qualifying refrigerator and up to $400 per qualifying freezer" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/fridge-freezer, read 2026-10-04 via browser (host 403s to automated fetch).”
Our energy expert: Up to $250 per qualifying refrigerator and up to $400 per qualifying freezer - freezers pay more because they work harder and the savings are larger. Commercial refrigeration is one of the few loads in a kitchen that runs every hour of the year, which is the argument for replacing it before it fails rather than after. Eversource and UI commercial and industrial electric customers, with the equipment installed in the territory of the utility that bills you.
Commercial Electric Griddle Incentive
Estimated benefit: Up to $500 per qualifying unit.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: Up to $500 per qualifying unit" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/griddle, read 2026-10-04 via browser (host 403s to automated fetch).”
Our energy expert: Up to $500 per qualifying commercial electric griddle. The amount is modest, so treat this as something that rides along with a kitchen refit rather than a reason to do one. Check the model against the qualifying list before purchase; Eversource and UI commercial and industrial electric customers only.
Commercial Electric Ice Machine Incentive
Estimated benefit: Up to $300 per qualifying unit.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: Up to $300 per qualifying unit" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/electric-ice-machines, read 2026-10-04 via browser (host 403s to automated fetch).”
Our energy expert: Up to $300 per qualifying commercial ice machine. Worth knowing where the saving actually comes from: an efficient machine saves on the compressor and on the water it uses, and in a hot kitchen the heat it rejects is also heat your air conditioning has to remove. Ask your dealer about air-cooled versus water-cooled placement at the same time you ask about the rebate.
Commercial Refrigerated Chef Bases Incentive
Estimated benefit: Up to $500 per qualifying unit.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: Up to $500 per qualifying unit" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/chef-base, read 2026-10-04 via browser (host 403s to automated fetch).”
Our energy expert: Up to $500 per qualifying refrigerated chef base. These sit under the cookline, the hottest part of the kitchen, so the insulation and gasketing of the unit matter more here than almost anywhere else in the building. Confirm the unit qualifies before it is ordered; this is for Eversource and UI commercial and industrial electric accounts.
Commercial Hot Food Holding Cabinet Incentive
Estimated benefit: Up to $1,000 per qualifying unit.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: Up to $1,000 per qualifying unit" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/holding-cabinets, read 2026-10-04 via browser (host 403s to automated fetch).”
Our energy expert: Up to $1,000 per qualifying hot food holding cabinet, which is a large incentive against the cost of the equipment. Insulated cabinets with tight doors are the whole difference; the uninsulated units many kitchens still run draw power continuously for no useful output. If your holding cabinets predate a refit or two, this is the easiest line on Connecticut's commercial foodservice list to act on.
Commercial Induction Cooktop Incentives
Estimated benefit: Up to $500 per burner on qualifying units.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: Up to $500 per burner on qualifying units" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/induction-cooktops, read 2026-10-04 via browser (host 403s to automated fetch).”
Our energy expert: This one is paid per burner, up to $500 each, so read the structure before you size the order - a six-burner induction range is a materially different incentive from a single hob. Induction also keeps heat out of the kitchen, which cuts the ventilation and cooling your building pays for. Confirm eligibility with Energize CT before purchase, because the burner count is what the payment is built on.
Commercial Lab Equipment Incentive
Estimated benefit: Up to $2,000 per qualifying unit.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: Up to $2,000 per qualifying unit" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/lab-equipment, read 2026-10-04 via browser (host 403s to automated fetch).”
Our energy expert: Up to $2,000 per qualifying piece of lab equipment, for Eversource and UI commercial and industrial electric customers. Laboratories are among the most energy-intensive buildings per square foot anywhere, and ultra-low freezers and fume hoods are usually where it goes. If you run a lab, claim this alongside a full facility assessment rather than piecemeal; the assessment is where the larger measures surface.
Commercial Vending Misers Incentive
Estimated benefit: Up to $75 per qualifying unit.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: Up to $75 per qualifying unit" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/vending-misers, read 2026-10-04 via browser (host 403s to automated fetch).”
Our energy expert: Up to $75 per vending controller. Small money, but the payback on a control that shuts a machine down when nobody is in the building is among the shortest on the commercial list. If you have vending machines in a building that empties at night, this is close to free to do, on any Eversource or UI commercial or industrial electric account.
Commercial On-Demand Wrapping Machine Incentive
Estimated benefit: Up to $125 per qualifying unit.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: Up to $125 per qualifying unit" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/on-demand-wrapping-machines, read 2026-10-04 via browser (host 403s to automated fetch).”
Our energy expert: Up to $125 per on-demand wrapping machine. The point of the measure is that the machine heats only when it is used instead of idling hot all day, so the saving depends on how intermittently your operation actually wraps - if yours runs constantly the case is weaker. Have your dealer confirm the model qualifies before you order.
Commercial Clothes Washer
Estimated benefit: Up to $200 per qualifying ENERGY STAR unit.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: Up to $200 per qualifying ENERGY STAR unit" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/commercial-washer-rebates, read 2026-10-04 via browser (host 403s to automated fetch).”
Our energy expert: Up to $200 per qualifying ENERGY STAR commercial clothes washer. For laundries, salons, gyms and small lodging the real cost is the water heating rather than the motor, so an efficient washer saves twice. Eversource and UI commercial and industrial electric customers; confirm the model qualifies before purchase.
Commercial Air Purifier Incentive
Estimated benefit: Up to $40 per qualifying unit.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: Up to $40 per qualifying unit" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/air-purifier, read 2026-10-04 via browser (host 403s to automated fetch).”
Our energy expert: Up to $40 per qualifying commercial air purifier. This is the smallest amount on Connecticut's commercial list, so claim it alongside other work rather than making a project of it. Available to Eversource and UI commercial and industrial electric customers, with the equipment installed in the service territory of the utility that bills you.
Commercial Air Conditioner Incentives
Estimated benefit: Up to $150 per ton on qualifying units.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: Up to $150 per ton on qualifying units" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/heating-cooling/commercial-central-air-conditioning, read 2026-10-04 via browser (host 403s to automated fetch).”
Our energy expert: Up to $150 per ton on qualifying commercial air conditioning. Compare that against the heat pump route before you buy: Energize CT pays up to $1,750 per ton for a commercial air source heat pump that replaces fossil fuel or electric resistance heat, which is a different order of money for equipment that also cools. If you are replacing a rooftop unit anyway, have that conversation with your mechanical contractor first.
Commercial Fryer Incentive
Estimated benefit: Up to $900 per qualifying unit.
Timing: Gas versions of this measure apply only to sales made on or after 1 March 2026. Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: Up to $900 per qualifying unit" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/commercial-fryer. Foodservice hub page: "The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) has approved the reinstatement of the following commercial gas foodservice equipment measures: convection ovens, large vat fryers, and steamers. The incentives for these measures will only be applicable for sales made on or after March 1, 2026." Both read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: Up to $900 per qualifying fryer, and the date is the thing to get right. Connecticut wound down gas equipment rebates, then DEEP reinstated gas large vat fryers effective 1 March 2026 - the electric version was never withdrawn and is payable today, while on the gas side the purchase date and whether your unit is a large vat model both decide it, so have Energize CT confirm your model is in scope before you order. Electric and natural gas commercial and industrial customers of Eversource, UI, CNG and SCG. Keep the dated invoice; it is what decides eligibility.
Commercial Oven and Range Incentive
Estimated benefit: Up to $2,500 per qualifying unit.
Timing: Gas versions of this measure apply only to sales made on or after 1 March 2026. Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: Up to $2,500 per qualifying unit" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/commercial-ovens-ranges.
Our energy expert: Up to $2,500 per qualifying unit, the largest single foodservice amount Connecticut publishes. For gas convection ovens the eligibility window reopened on 1 March 2026 after the state's gas wind-down, so the purchase date decides whether you are paid at all. Electric and natural gas commercial and industrial customers of Eversource, UI, CNG and SCG. Confirm the model and the date with the program before the order goes in.
Commercial Steamer Incentive
Estimated benefit: Up to $2,000 per qualifying unit.
Timing: Gas versions of this measure apply only to sales made on or after 1 March 2026. Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: Up to $2,000 per qualifying unit" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/steamer.
Our energy expert: Up to $2,000 per qualifying steamer. Connectionless steamers are the measure that moves here - they stop boiling water nobody uses, which in a production kitchen is a continuous load. Gas steamers were brought back into the program effective 1 March 2026, so a unit bought before that date does not qualify and one bought after does. Check your invoice date against that cutoff before you file.
C&I Prescriptive Weatherization (Wx) Incentives
Estimated benefit: Attic insulation $0.035 per square foot; wall insulation $0.145 per square foot; air sealing $80 per hour.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Incentive: Attic Insulation $0.035 sq. ft. | Incentive: Wall Insulation $0.145 sq. ft. | Rebate: $80 per hour of air sealing" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/ci-prescriptive-weatherization-incentives, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: Set your expectations before you read these rates: commercial attic insulation pays $0.035 per square foot and wall insulation $0.145 per square foot, with air sealing at $80 per hour. Those sit far below the residential insulation rates, and a business owner who has seen the residential figures will be surprised. The program is limited to facilities up to 20,000 square feet, and buildings whose heating and cooling load is driven by ventilation - kitchens and laboratories are the examples given - are excluded outright. Contractors serving UI, CNG and SCG customers additionally need BPI Building Analyst certification, so check your contractor's credentials against the utility that bills you.
Commercial Lighting Instant Rebates
Estimated benefit: Up to $230 per fixture on qualifying products, taken as a point-of-sale discount at a participating distributor.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: Up to $230 per fixture on qualifying products." - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/ci-instant-lighting-incentives, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: Up to $230 per fixture, taken straight off the price at a participating distributor with no application to file. That makes it the lowest-friction commercial incentive in the state and the right place to start if you have not done LED yet. Ask the distributor to show you the discounted and undiscounted price so you know what the program is actually paying. Commercial, industrial, institutional, agricultural and multifamily common-area customers of Eversource and UI.
Commercial Express Lighting Incentive
Estimated benefit: Per-unit fixed amounts by fixture type, set in the Express Lighting incentive schedule.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: Rebates are per-unit fixed amounts." - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/ci-express-lighting-incentives (page last modified 2026-09-22), read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: Express Lighting pays fixed per-unit amounts by fixture type, set in Energize CT's Express Lighting incentive schedule rather than on the program page; your lighting contractor or distributor works from that schedule and can price your fixture list against it. The eligibility trap is that products already discounted at point of sale cannot also be claimed here, so instant rebates and Express are an either/or decision made before you buy. Lighting has been the easy win for energy managers for years, and funding for it tends to shrink as the easy work gets done. If you have not finished your LED retrofit, do it while Connecticut is still paying at this level.
Commercial Heat Pump Water Heater Incentive
Estimated benefit: Up to $1,400 per qualifying ENERGY STAR certified unit.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: Up to $1,400 per qualifying unit" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/water-heater/Commercial-heat-pump-water-heater, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: Up to $1,400 per qualifying ENERGY STAR commercial heat pump water heater. Where these work is a building with a steady hot water draw and a mechanical room with air to spare; where they do not is a tight closet, because the unit cools the space it occupies. Have your mechanical contractor check the room before the equipment is specified. Eversource and UI commercial and industrial electric customers.
Commercial Thermostat Incentive
Estimated benefit: Up to $85 per qualifying unit.
Timing: Incentive Duration 01/01/26 - 12/31/26 (stated in the 'Offer details' block on the program page). The 2026 Energize CT incentive year closes 31 December 2026.
“"Rebate Offer: Up to $85 per qualifying unit" - energizect.com/rebates-incentives/commercial-thermostat-incentive, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: Up to $85 per qualifying commercial thermostat, for Eversource, UI, CNG and SCG commercial and industrial customers. The purchase rebate is separate money from the demand response reward paid for enrolling the same device, and the commercial annual reward is far larger than the residential one, so do both. Claim the purchase rebate at the register and enroll the device afterwards.
Energy Opportunities (C&I retrofit, custom incentive)
Estimated benefit: Custom incentive paid as the greater of a savings-based or a demand-based calculation, by project tier. Tier 3 comprehensive (four or more systems): $0.75 per annual kWh saved, plus $1,000 per summer peak kW, plus $7.00 per annual natural gas CCF, plus $9.00 per oil gallon, plus $7.00 per propane gallon, not to exceed 75% of installed cost. Tier 2 (three systems): $0.65 / $1,000 / $6.00 / $8.00 / $6.00, not to exceed 65%. Tier 1 (two systems): $0.50 / $1,000 / $5.00 / $7.00 / $5.00, not to exceed 50%. Single non-lighting measure: $0.40 / $1,000 / $4.00 / $6.00 / $4.00, not to exceed 40%. New or replacement equipment: $0.40 / $1,000 / $4.00, not to exceed 75% of incremental cost. Steam trap repair projects can qualify for up to 90% of project cost.
Timing: The cap sheet is printed 'Effective 3/1/2026 through 12/31/2026. All incentives and caps are subject to availability of funds and may be adjusted as funding levels change.'
“"Tier 3 Comprehensive Four or more systems* $0.75 $1,000 $7.00 $9.00 $7.00 75% of installed cost" and "Single Non Lighting Measure $0.40 $1,000 $4.00 $6.00 $4.00 40% of Installed Cost" - 2026 Commercial and Industrial Existing Buildings Cap Sheet, Energize Connecticut, doc 1-0175 Rev. 03/26, pp. 1-2, effective 3/1/2026 through 12/31/2026. Our energy expert: This is Connecticut's largest commercial program and the one most worth understanding properly, because it pays on modelled savings rather than equipment type, which means the quality of the engineering study largely determines what you are paid. The tier structure rewards bundling: four or more systems earns $0.75 per annual kWh saved plus $1,000 per summer peak kW, up to 75% of installed cost, while a single non-lighting measure earns $0.40 per kWh up to 40%. The detail nobody summarises is the fuel adders - $7.00 per annual natural gas CCF, $9.00 per oil gallon, $7.00 per propane gallon - so an oil-heated facility is paid considerably more for the same thermal work. Where a prescriptive rebate already exists for a piece of equipment the prescriptive rate supersedes the custom one, and the cap sheet runs 1 March to 31 December 2026 subject to funding; scope the project with an energy professional as one package rather than measure by measure.
C&I Custom Lighting Incentives (Existing Buildings)
Estimated benefit: High-performance lighting: $0.65 per annual kWh saved plus $1,000 per summer peak kW, not to exceed 65% of installed cost. Enhanced performance lighting controls or wirelessly accessible controls: $0.50 per kWh plus $1,000 per kW, not to exceed 50%. Standard lighting: $0.20 per kWh plus $1,000 per kW, plus $0.05 per kWh where the lighting is connected to and controlled by an EMS, not to exceed 20%.
Timing: Effective 3/1/2026 through 12/31/2026 per the cap sheet.
“"High Performance Lighting 1 $0.65 $1,000 N/A 65% of Installed Cost" ... "Standard Lighting $0.20 $1,000 $0.05/kWh 20% of Installed Cost" - 2026 Commercial and Industrial Existing Buildings Cap Sheet, Energize Connecticut, doc 1-0175 Rev. 03/26, pp. 1-2, effective 3/1/2026 through 12/31/2026. Walked: energizect.com -> Explore Solutions -> New Construction & Building Efficiency -> Existing Business Facilities -> Program Forms -> '2026 Project Caps & Incentives for Existing Buildings'. URL https://www.energizect.com/media/16651/download?inline (file 1-0175 Existing Building Cap Sheet_CLEAN.pdf).”
Our energy expert: The spread is the whole story here. High-performance lighting earns $0.65 per annual kWh saved plus $1,000 per summer peak kW, up to 65% of installed cost; enhanced controls earn $0.50 per kWh up to 50%; standard lighting earns $0.20 per kWh up to 20%. Reaching the enhanced level is a controls decision rather than a fixture decision - at least two discrete control strategies, and for the whole project to count as enhanced, at least 80% of connected lighting load has to be on them. That is the difference between being paid once and being paid two and a half times over on the same fixtures, so have your lighting designer price the controls scope before the fixture order is placed.
Environmental Justice Communities Enhanced Incentive Offer
Estimated benefit: On top of the base incentive: electric enhanced incentive of $0.10 per kWh or an additional 10 percentage points on the cost cap, capped at $50,000 extra per electric project. Natural gas enhanced incentive of $2.00 per CCF, up to 90% of project cost, capped at $50,000 extra per project.
Timing: "Starting July 1, 2024, if new projects are located in EJ Block Groups..." and "Offer valid while funding is available for this enhanced offering." No end date printed.
“"Electric enhanced incentives of $0.10/kWh or an additional 10 percent to cost caps ($50k maximum additional incentive per electric project). Natural gas enhanced incentives now include $2/ccf (up to 90% of project cost, $50k maximum additional incentive per project)." - Enhanced Incentives for your Business and Property: Environmental Justice Communities Offer, Energize Connecticut, doc 1-0436 Rev. 08/24, p. 1. Reached via energizect.com -> Existing Business Facilities -> Program Forms -> 'Environmental Justice Communities - Enhanced incentive Offers' (https://www.energizect.com/media/13136/download?inline).”
Our energy expert: If your project sits in an Environmental Justice Community block group there is money on top of the base incentive: an extra $0.10 per kWh or ten more percentage points on the cost cap, capped at $50,000 extra per electric project, and $2.00 per CCF up to 90% of project cost with the same $50,000 ceiling on gas. The towns are named, so you can check in seconds - Ansonia, Bridgeport, Bristol, Derby, East Hartford, East Haven, Groton, Hartford, Killingly, Mansfield, Meriden, Montville, Naugatuck, New Britain, New Haven, New London, North Stonington, Plainfield, Plymouth, Putnam, Sprague, Stratford, Torrington, Waterbury, West Haven, Winchester and Windham qualify for both electric and gas. Qualification is by block group rather than town line, so one address can qualify while the next street over does not. The offer is stated as valid while funding is available and the governing document is the 2024 edition, so confirm the adder is still being paid before you build it into a budget.
Small Business Energy Advantage (SBEA)
Estimated benefit: No-cost energy assessment, contractor-managed installation, incentives covering up to 80% of total project cost, and zero-interest on-bill financing for the balance. One-year warranty on contractor parts and labor.
Timing: No end date found. Financing is subject to credit qualification.
“"Incentives cover up to 80% of the total project cost" and "Zero-interest and low-cost financing for the balance of installed cost* (payable on your monthly electric bill, so you only have one monthly payment)" - energizect.com/energy-assessments/small-business, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: Connecticut is being kind to its small business owners with this package. It starts with a no-cost assessment, the contractor manages the installation, incentives cover up to 80% of total project cost, and the balance can go on zero-interest on-bill financing with a one-year warranty on the contractor's parts and labor. Treat 80% as the ceiling rather than the expectation - Energize CT publishes three of its own completed projects where the incentive landed well short of it. Eligibility is set by usage: Eversource customers under 3,000,000 kWh a year per Connecticut location, UI customers with average 12-month peak demand between 10 and 200 kW. Contact an energy professional and start with the assessment.
Commercial and Municipal Building Energy Assessments
Estimated benefit: No-cost, no-obligation energy assessment of a commercial, industrial or municipal facility, with contractor-managed installation, incentives and on-bill payment options. Measure incentives are set by the Existing Buildings cap sheet.
Timing: No end date found; confirm the current deadline with the administrator.
“"you can request to have a utility-authorized contractor perform a no-cost, no-obligation energy assessment of your facility" - energizect.com/energy-assessments/commercial-buildings-municipal (last modified 2026-10-01), read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: This is the large-customer counterpart to Small Business Energy Advantage, and the boundary between them is what you need to settle first: this one serves Eversource and UI commercial, industrial and municipal customers using more than 1,000,000 kWh a year across all Connecticut properties, or UI customers over 200 kW average peak demand. The assessment carries no cost and no obligation and it is the gateway into Energy Opportunities, where the custom incentive money actually lives. Measure amounts come off the Existing Buildings cap sheet, which your assessor works from. If your usage sits between the two programs' thresholds, ask which one you are in before you start, because you will not guess it.
Energy Conscious Blueprint - New Construction and Major Renovation Heat Pump Incentives
Estimated benefit: Air source heat pumps $640 per heating ton, capped at $400,000 (Eversource) or $200,000 (Avangrid). Variable refrigerant flow $1,000 per heating ton, capped at $500,000 (Eversource) or $300,000 (Avangrid). Ground source heat pumps $4,000 per heating ton, capped at $600,000 (Eversource) or $400,000 (Avangrid).
Timing: No end date found on the page.
“"Energize CT New Construction & Major Renovation Heat Pump Incentive Rates: Air Source Heat Pumps $640/heating ton capped at: Eversource: $400,000 Avangrid: $200,000; Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) $1,000/heating ton capped at: Eversource: $500,000 Avangrid: $300,000; Ground Source Heat Pumps $4,000/heating ton capped at: Eversource: $600,000 Avangrid: $400,000" - energizect.com/explore-solutions/new-construction-building-efficiency/new-business-construction, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: If you are planning new construction or a major renovation, speak with an energy professional around the same time you reach out to an architect - the measures have to be introduced at the planning stage to be paid at all. Air source heat pumps earn $640 per heating ton, variable refrigerant flow $1,000, ground source $4,000. Then which utility bills you decides your ceiling: Eversource projects are capped at $400,000, $500,000 and $600,000 respectively, and UI, CNG and SCG projects at $200,000, $300,000 and $400,000 - half, for the same measure under the same statewide brand. A developer in UI territory needs that number before the design is fixed.
Commercial Smart Thermostat Demand Response
Estimated benefit: Eversource ConnectedSolutions small business: $50 one-time enrollment reward plus $200 annual reward per accepted device. The Energy Storage page states the same for commercial electric customers using less than 3 million kWh annually per location.
Timing: Summer season events, June through September.
“"Commercial Eversource ConnectedSolutions Small Business Customers Earn a $50 one-time enrollment rewards and $200 annual reward per accepted device" - energizect.com/explore-solutions/smart-thermostat-demand-response; "Commercial electric customers using less than 3 million kWh annually per location may be eligible for a one-time $50 enrollment incentive and up to $200 per year for each accepted device." - energizect.com/explore-solutions/demand-response-and-smart-devices/energy-storage. Both read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: For a small business this is the best-value enrollment in Connecticut's demand response set: $50 to enroll an accepted thermostat plus $200 a year, where the residential version pays $20 a year for the same device. Eligibility is Eversource electric customers using less than 3 million kWh a year per location. Events run June through September and you keep the ability to opt out of any one of them. If you already own a connected thermostat, this is a few minutes of paperwork for an annual payment.
Commercial Demand Response (Curtailment)
Estimated benefit: Two participation levels. Daily Curtailment: more events, higher incentive opportunity, 30 to 60 events a season. Targeted Curtailment: 3 to 8 events a season, fewer incentives, including a $10 per kW bonus averaged across all weekend events. Additional bonus of up to $1,500 where an interval meter installation is required.
Timing: Event season June 1 to September 30, 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., events lasting 2 to 3 hours, with 24 hours' notice.
“"Daily Curtailment Participation Participate in more events, with higher incentive opportunities Expect 30-60 events per season. Targeted Curtailment Participation Participate in fewer events, with fewer incentives Expect 3-8 events per season Includes a $10/kW bonus averaged across all weekend events" and "Additional Bonus: Up to $1,500 if an interval meter installation is required." - energizect.com/explore-solutions/commercial-demand-response, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: If there is flexibility in your facility's demand profile, Eversource and UI will pay you to reduce load on summer afternoons - events run 1 June to 30 September between 3 and 8 p.m., two to three hours, with 24 hours' notice. You choose how deep you go: Daily Curtailment means 30 to 60 events a season and the larger incentive opportunity, Targeted Curtailment means 3 to 8 events and less money, including a $10 per kW bonus averaged across weekend events, plus up to $1,500 where an interval meter has to be installed. The per-kW performance rates sit in the ConnectedSolutions commercial rate sheet rather than on the program page; your Eversource or UI account representative, or a curtailment service provider, will price your site against it. Most participants go in through a provider, which takes part of the incentive in return for the equipment and the bidding - worth comparing against going direct before you sign.
Community Energy Boost Grant
Estimated benefit: Grant funding for community outreach projects. The award is not a fixed amount: "Funding awards will be based on the project submitted on the application, the selected project focus area" and the applicant's reach. Recipients execute a Memorandum of Agreement and report on expenditure and outreach progress.
Timing: Informational webinars were held 3 June 2026 (two sessions) and 4 August. No application close date is printed in the guidelines document.
“"Funding awards: Funding awards will be based on the project submitted on the application, the selected project focus area, and the..." - 2026 Community Energy Boost Grant Application, Energize Connecticut, doc 1-0646 Rev. 04/26, pp. 1-2. Reached via energizect.com -> Explore Solutions -> Community Energy Boost Grant -> 'application guidelines here' (https://www.energizect.com/media/32901/download?inline).”
Our energy expert: This is grant money for outreach, aimed at organizations rather than households - incorporated nonprofits, community groups, chambers of commerce, councils of governments and municipal committees including energy task forces. There is no fixed award: the amount is set per application by the Sponsors against the project submitted, the focus area chosen and the reach the applicant can demonstrate, and recipients sign a Memorandum of Agreement and report on spending and outreach progress. The eligible focus areas are the ones with the hardest-to-reach customers - HES-Income Eligible, heat pump adoption, Small Business Energy Advantage and the Multifamily Initiative. No application close date is printed in the guidelines, so ask Energize CT whether the current round is still open before you spend time on a submission.
Operations and Maintenance Services (O&M)
Estimated benefit: Financial and technical assistance to improve electrical and thermal efficiency through operational changes and repairs rather than capital investment. Incentives for these measures are paid through the Existing Buildings custom incentive table; the 2026 cap sheet states that retro-commissioning energy management system control points automatically qualify for the Tier 1 comprehensive rate, and that steam trap repair projects coupled with a mechanical room insulation measure also qualify for Tier 1.
Timing: Cap sheet effective 3/1/2026 through 12/31/2026.
“"Retro-commissioning energy management system (EMS) control points automatically qualify for this tier" and "Steam trap repair projects coupled with a mechanical room insulation measure automatically qualify for this tier" (Tier 1 Comprehensive: $0.50 per annual kWh, $1,000 per summer peak kW, $5.00 per CCF, $7.00 per oil gallon, $5.00 per propane gallon, not to exceed 50% of installed cost) - 2026 Commercial and Industrial Existing Buildings Cap Sheet, doc 1-0175 Rev. 03/26, p. 1.”
Our energy expert: Not every saving needs capital. This offers financial and technical help to improve electrical and thermal efficiency through operational changes and repairs - the work that gets skipped because nobody owns it. The incentives come through the Existing Buildings custom table rather than a rebate form, and the 2026 cap sheet is explicit about two things worth exploiting: retro-commissioning energy management control points automatically qualify for the Tier 1 comprehensive rate, and a steam trap repair project paired with a mechanical room insulation measure does too. That tiering is the difference between a maintenance line item and a funded project, so have an energy professional structure it that way before you file.
Retro-Commissioning (RCx)
Estimated benefit: An approved retro-commissioning engineering firm evaluates how mechanical equipment and controls operate together and recommends control strategies, with technical and financial incentives. The filed plan notes an expedited retro-commissioning offer for medium-sized facilities.
03/26, p. 1.”
Our energy expert: Retro-commissioning is the process of improving how equipment and systems function together in a building you already have: an approved engineering firm evaluates how the mechanical plant and controls actually operate, recommends control strategies, and the measures get implemented. There is a hard entry gate - at least 100,000 square feet of gross building area and an operating direct digital control energy management system with trending capability - though the filed plan also describes an expedited offer for medium-sized facilities worth asking about. The money comes through the Existing Buildings custom table, and the 2026 cap sheet says retro-commissioning control points automatically qualify for the Tier 1 comprehensive rate, which is the highest. This kind of study needs an energy professional; it is not something a building engineer does between work orders.
Strategic Energy Management (SEM)
Estimated benefit: 100% of the funding for coaching support through a three-year SEM engagement is covered by the program. SEM programs nationally are quoted as achieving 3-5% average annual energy reduction. Measure incentives for resulting capital projects are paid through the Existing Buildings custom incentive table.
Timing: Three-year engagement. A Letter of Intent sets out what is required from the customer and what the utility delivers.
“"100% of funding for coaching support through the SEM engagement." and "If you consume over 5 million kwh annually and are currently engaged in an ISO initiative (9000/14000) or have a sustainability commitment, SEM is for you." - energizect.com/explore-solutions/strategic-energy-management, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: What you get here is not a rebate cheque, it is three years of coaching funded at 100% by the program - the structure and discipline to keep finding savings rather than one project that gets done and forgotten. Capital projects that come out of the engagement are paid separately through the Existing Buildings custom incentive table. The entry bar is high: over 5 million kWh a year, an ISO 9000/14000 initiative or a standing sustainability commitment, senior leadership backing and named energy champions, all set out in a Letter of Intent. If you have the usage and the management commitment this is among the highest-leverage things on Connecticut's commercial list; without the commitment it will not work, and the program is open about that.
Wallingford Electric Division (Town of Wallingford) 3 programs
C&I Lighting Retrofit and Replacement Incentive
Estimated benefit: Incentive payments up to 40% of the pre-tax project cost, provided the customer's payback period does not exceed five years. A project whose projected payback exceeds five years may qualify for a pro-rated payment.
Timing: Valid for qualifying lighting purchased and installed on or after 1 January 2025 through 31 December 2026.
“"Lighting retrofit projects: Incentive payments up to 40% of the pre-tax project cost as long as the customer's payback period does not exceed five years. (A project might qualify for a pro-rated incentive payment if the projected payback exceeds five years.)" - wallingfordct.gov/businesses/energy-conservation-commercial-industrial/, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: This one has a date on it. Incentive payments run up to 40% of pre-tax project cost provided the project's payback period does not exceed five years, and a project that pays back more slowly may still get a pro-rated payment - but the five-year test is the real gate, not the 40%. The program window closes on 31 December 2026, which is under three months away, and Wallingford businesses have no Energize Connecticut fallback because the Division does not participate. If you have a lighting retrofit in planning, talk to Wallingford Electric Division this month rather than next year.
C&I Electric Process Equipment Retrofit and Replacement Incentive
Estimated benefit: Incentive for qualifying retrofit and replacement high-efficiency process equipment, assessed under WED's E-2 Energy Conservation Incentive/Rebate Policy on a payback basis.
Timing: Valid 1 January 2025 through 31 December 2026.
“"Electric Process Equipment Retrofit and Replacement Incentive - Valid for all Wallingford Electric Division commercial and industrial electric service customers who purchase and install qualifying retrofit and replacement high efficiency process equipment on or after January 1, 2025 through December 31, 2026." - wallingfordct.gov/businesses/energy-conservation-commercial-industrial/, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: Process equipment is where a manufacturer's electricity actually goes, and Wallingford will pay toward retrofitting or replacing it with high-efficiency equipment. The incentive is not a fixed per-unit amount: it is assessed under the Division's E-2 Energy Conservation Incentive/Rebate Policy on a payback basis, which means your number comes out of the savings analysis rather than a table - and the quality of that analysis is what determines the payment. Ask Wallingford Electric Division for the E-2 policy and the C&I Equipment Retrofit and Replace form, and have the savings estimated before you commit. Valid 1 January 2025 through 31 December 2026.
C&I Electric Heating and Cooling System Rebate
Estimated benefit: $200 per unit at the base efficiency tier and $300 per unit at the higher tier, across the published capacity bands (under 5.4 tons / under 65,000 Btuh at 15.0 or 15.5 SEER; 5.4 to under 20 tons at 12.0 or 12.3 EER; 20 to 30 tons at 10.5 or 10.8 EER; split and single-package systems). Dual enthalpy economizer controls are eligible for $250 per unit.
Timing: Valid for commercial and industrial measures completed 1 January 2025 through 31 December 2026.
“"< 5.4 < 65,000 15.0 SEER $200 15.5 SEER $300" and "Dual enthalpy economizer controls are eligible for $250 per unit rebate." - WED C&I Heat & Cool System Rebates form, Jan25-Dec26 edition, p. 2.”
Our energy expert: Wallingford pays $200 per unit at the base efficiency tier and $300 at the higher tier across its published capacity bands, with dual enthalpy economizer controls at $250 per unit. Get the tier and the amount confirmed by the Division against your specific equipment before you order, because the published table is dense and the two-column structure is easy to read across wrongly. The economizer line is clear and simple to add to a rooftop replacement, and controls rebates apply only to unitary systems with electric air conditioning. The window closes 31 December 2026, and there is no statewide fallback for Wallingford customers.
South Norwalk Electric and Water (SNEW) 2 programs
Commercial and Industrial Electric Heating and Cooling System Rebate
Estimated benefit: $3,000 across the published capacity tiers (under 5.4 tons / under 65,000 Btuh at 15.0 or 15.5 SEER; 5.4 to under 20 tons at 12.0 or 12.3 EER; 20 to 30 tons at 10.5 or 10.8 EER), and $3,000 for ductless single-zone systems. Dual enthalpy economizer controls are eligible for $250 per unit.
Timing: Valid 1 January 2026 through 31 December 2027; applications postmarked no later than 31 January 2028.
“"< 5.4 < 65,000 15.0 SEER $3,000 15.5 SEER $3,000" and "Dual enthalpy economizer controls are eligible for $250 per unit rebate." - 2026-2027 Commercial & Industrial Electric Heating & Cooling System Rebate, SNEW, form S-2 rev. 2026-08-A, p. 2.”
Our energy expert: SNEW pays commercial and industrial heating and cooling rebates across published capacity tiers - under 5.4 tons, 5.4 to under 20 tons, and 20 to 30 tons, each with its own efficiency threshold - plus ductless single-zone systems, and $250 per unit for dual enthalpy economizer controls. Get the per-tier amount confirmed by SNEW against your specific equipment before you order, because the published table is dense and the tier your unit falls into is what decides the payment. The economizer line is unambiguous and easy to add to a rooftop replacement. Valid 1 January 2026 through 31 December 2027, with applications postmarked by 31 January 2028.
Commercial Express Lighting Rebate
Estimated benefit: Per-fixture lighting rebates set in SNEW's 2026 Express Lighting schedule.
Timing: 2026 schedule; no dates extracted.
“Form listed as 'Commercial Lighting Rebate (PDF)' at snew.org/conservation/rebates-incentives/ and published at snew.org/wp-content/uploads/2026Expresslightingrevised.pdf, retrieved 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: SNEW posts a 2026 Express Lighting schedule setting per-fixture rebates for its commercial electric customers, and that schedule is the document your lighting contractor or distributor should be working from. We have not read the figures in it, so take no amount from this entry - request the schedule from SNEW directly, or have your contractor obtain it, before you price a retrofit. Lighting is usually the shortest-payback measure available to a commercial building, which makes it worth the phone call.
Other administrators 2 programs
Energy Storage Solutions - Commercial and Industrial — Energy Storage Solutions - overseen by PURA, paid for by electric ratepayers, administered jointly by the Connecticut Green Bank, Eversource and United Illuminating
Estimated benefit: Upfront incentive: none for non-priority customers; $10 per kWh for Priority Customers. Performance incentive: small to medium commercial $325 per kW in years 1-5 and $175 per kW in years 6-10; large commercial over 500 kW peak demand $275 per kW in years 1-5 and $175 per kW in years 6-10.
Timing: New incentive structure effective 1 April 2026 for applications submitted on or after that date. Performance incentives run ten years.
“"Commercial and Industrial Upfront Incentive Rates ($/kWh) | Non-Priority Customer | Priority Customer | 2026 Rate (Effective 4/1/26) | No Enrollment Incentive | $10" and "Commercial and Industrial Performance Incentive Rates ($/kW) | Years 1-5 | Years 6-10 | Small-Medium Commercial $325 $175 | Large Commercial (>500 kW Peak Demand) $275 $175" - energystoragect.com/energy-storage-solutions-for-buildings-communities/, tables read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: Priority status is the whole difference here. A Priority Customer - a small business, a critical facility, a grid-edge customer, or one replacing a fossil fuel generator - gets $10 per kWh upfront; everybody else gets no upfront incentive at all. Performance incentives then run ten years: small to medium commercial at $325 per kW in years one to five and $175 per kW in years six to ten, large commercial over 500 kW peak demand at $275 then $175. Find out which category you are in before you budget the project, because a non-priority customer is financing the entire battery and earning back on performance alone.
Connecticut EV Charging Program - Business Make-Ready — United Illuminating (Avangrid) and Eversource Energy (Connecticut Electric)
Estimated benefit: Make-ready incentives covering a portion of the electrical infrastructure cost. UI reimburses up to 100% for eligible sites in disadvantaged communities and up to 50% for other eligible sites.
Timing: No end date found; confirm the current deadline with the administrator.
“"In the Make-Ready program, you're eligible for incentives that streamline the installation process and cover a portion of the electrical infrastructure costs. Properties in disadvantaged communities may qualify for incentives covering up to 100%." and "UI reimburses up to 100% for eligible sites / UI reimburses up to 50% for eligible sites" - uinet.com/smartenergy/electric-vehicles/ev-programs-for-your-business/business-owners, read 2026-10-04.”
Our energy expert: The electrical infrastructure is usually the expensive half of a commercial charging project, and that is exactly what this covers: UI reimburses up to 100% of eligible make-ready cost for sites in designated disadvantaged communities and up to 50% elsewhere. Whether your site falls inside one of those communities is checkable on the utilities' own eligibility map, and it is worth checking before you decide where on the property the chargers go. The per-port and per-site caps are set in the Joint Utilities EV Charging Program manual filed with PURA, which your UI or Eversource program contact works from - get your site's caps from them in writing before you size the project. Business, property, fleet and municipal customers of UI and Eversource.
